When I was a little girl, I often accompanied my parents to second-hand shops and flea markets.
We visited remote cities and towns throughout Italy. The visits were fascinating, and even then I was attracted to brightly colored objects, no matter how unusual and useless.
They reminded me of my father’s extravagant aunt, who used to surprise us with quickie visits wearing all kinds of colorful accessories.
Eventually, plastic jewelry and fashion accessories turned into a real passion, and at every opportunity I added more and more items to my collection – colorful bracelets, necklaces made of tiny dolls, boxes shaped as a leaf or a heart, and much more.
In the 1980s, I went to New York for the first time – what a wonderful land! The markets were full of treasures for me… reasonably priced too!
